I am so excited that the long weekend has started. I bet you too. It has been a busy couple of weeks for me, finally, I am back blogging.
Today we are discussing fashion illustration, stuff that you will do a lot when you study fashion design. As you may know, Hueynie is taking a fashion design course. We think it is good to share a glimpse about what she has been learning here, considering that maybe some of you are interested in fashion design too. We planned to explain it from different sides, therefore we will put it into a series of post.
First of all, when you draw, it is not drawing without purpose, but everything you draw should have a theme. The topic she raised here is 'Childhood Memories'. She tried to work out these keywords: vintage, classical and whimsical to bring out childhood memories into reality. The design should state moments of full of laughs and happiness yet dramatic sense of childhood. Hence, the second thing to consider is the type of the dress - a drapery dress is an example of a classic and vintage cutting. Consequently, the next thing to think about is from what material you are going to make this dress. Cotton and lace are common fabrics used in the old days. Fourth, have in mind the supporting particles or details. As you can see, she chose stitched flowers, birds and butterflies as the details to strengthen the whimsical and oldie sides of the dress. Lastly, you need to decide the right colors to be incorporated into the design. For this series of illustrations Hueynie chose fancy yet dull color to represent the cheerfulness of childhood, at the same time, the dull color selections highlight past memories issue.
Hope you enjoy this post. Happy weekend :)
Do you always think that there is something else to collect even though you have shopped till drop? We absolutely do..
A leather varsity jacket is our something else to buy for now because it combines casualness, youthfulness and versatility. The combination of cotton and leather is very unique and definitely brings the jacket to a higher level. If your personal style is casual, then this is a wearable in trend product.
Happy Monday :)
This song has been my favorite for a while. It is an Indonesian song, titled 'Hope' by Monita and definitely a mellow one, some people I know do not like this song, but if you are still curious you can play here. My iTunes recorded that I have played this song for 634 times. I never thought that I am such a serious listener of this song before I looked at that number. *grin*. Phrase that got my biggest attention is the third line, more or less stating "I am walking along the rainbow until the sun is back to shine". Sometimes problem comes on our way, just keep walking because up to certain point every problem will end and it will bring good things to our life.
When you see the roaring tiger, maybe you directly say 'that style is not for me' like what we did before when we saw people wearing those roaring animals, say leopards, panthers, tigers and lions. We are fine with animal prints, but with these roaring ones, there were exceptions. Therefore, here we are trying to pair a roaring tiger sweater in quite different way. It is rather clean, unique and bold, not typical fierce and grunge styling. This look is created by composing basic and bold color choices and sharp origami folds cutting, not to mention the multi-colored and patterned lace up sandals.
Enjoy your experiment with this new item!
Get your roar back! Don't let your problems and fear overcome you.
What will you do during the weekend? Besides partying, Sydneysiders love to walk their dogs on the weekend. You will be amazed by dogs and puppies, from a wide variety of breeds, hanging out around parks, beaches, weekend markets, small shops and even cafes.
The girl's outfit:
1. a beanie
2. a sweetheart pullover
3. a houndstooth mini skirt
4. metallic sandals
5. a multi-tone bag
Anyway, can't wait for the weekend?? LOL We have a song for you.. Play here

Keep an eye to ankle boots when you go shopping. They are your instant magic wand during fall and winter. They look great with almost anything such as skinnies, tights, dresses, minis, long dresses and long skirts. Besides, you will need them soon since autumn cold breeze is approaching. It is good to start searching early so you can consider better before buying. Choose ones that you can use in your most occasions. For example, if your day to day is filled with going to office in formal attire, think twice before purchasing multi-color and fancy style ones. Also consider about how well it will match with your entire closet. A simple tip for buying colored booties: make sure you have several items in those particular colors. For instance, do not buy fuchsia boots if you do not have any fuchsia items in your wardrobe otherwise it will just sit on your shoe rack if not being used with your black clothes LOL.
Have a happy weekend, the only happy -end.. :D
Who are joining the marching line today? The greens, the woodens and the metallics. The greens consist of a Hawaiian with emerald green shades and a distinct and popped up olive Proenza Schouler clutch. Meanwhile, the woodens are being represented by pull-on shorts and wooden color big sunglasses. The last but the strongest are the metallics. They mingle with the clutch, protect the feet and dress the ears up.
Our marching story above might confuse you, but we didn't mean that LOL.. It's just this month's theme: 'MARCH for March', that we raised to encourage and energize all of us to reach our dreams and goals this year. Haven't seen the results yet doesn't mean that it's time to stop. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an American poet and educator has ever said that the heights by great men reached and kept, were not obtained by sudden flight. But they, while their companions slept, were tolling upward in the night.
I am so excited to bring you this cute yet very easy DIY recycling project, scented hanger pom-pom. I made this pom-pom quite impulsively because I am actually not a big fan of perfumes, but my husband really is. We used to come into little arguments when we did our laundry, because he loves softener, while I do not. The thing is because liquid softener left some spots on our clothes since we used old top loader washing machine which was not compatible for softener appliance. Until he bought these dryer sheets, then everyone is happy :)
While my husband is a fragrance lover, I am a good keeper of things that supposed to be thrown away, one of which is this dryer sheet. The first time I saw it, I just reckoned that it was made of tissue paper, only it was a bit stiffer. But, hey, it smelled nice, why not keep it, I thought. After a few minutes, this pom-pom thing came across my mind so I tried to realize it. It has been a month since I made it but it still does not loose its fragrance. You can try this too as it is super easy. It takes only 10-15 minutes to make one.
